Nap Time

When Caiden is tired he will try anything to keep himself from falling asleep. Some days it works, which makes bedtime nice and early, and other days he will crash in the strangest places.

A few weeks ago he passed out right outside of the shower door, practically trapping me in the shower. He was waiting for me to get out and talking up a storm to me and then he got really quiet and really still, and once I squeezed out of the shower I took a few pics.

Under the Coffee Table

My favorite was when he propped himself up on the couch to try and stay awake until Tangled was over, it obviously didn’t work. He slept in this position for almost 2 hours.

Check out that open mouth, he was so tired that day!! So peaceful!

Paint by Number

Grandma Madsen bought Kayli the coolest paint by number art kit for her birthday. She wanted to open it right away and get busy painting, but I made her wait until the next morning. She LOVES the kit and did such a great job on her first one. I didnt do a thing other than help her figure out what colors went with what numbers. The finished product sits proudly on her shelf and anyone that comes over HAS to see it, regardless of whether or not you have seen it before! She is so proud of her art! I guess I dont have a picture of the final product, just the work in progress!

She really is talented in the art category, and I have no idea where that comes from!

Picnic

Kayli loves to set up the biggest blanket she can find and then line all of her stuffed animals up around the outside. She cooks in the play kitchen for a little bit while Caiden sets up the plates and then its time for a picnic, some days they even sit in the middle and eat with the animals. So FUN!! This is an almost daily occurrence around here! In fact, guess what they are doing as I type this.

Caiden wants nothing to do with pictures most days, in fact he turned away from me at the last second in the last picture, silly boy.

I Wubit Mom!

Caiden is the sweetest little boy ever, ok so I may be a little biased, but he is seriously sweet. He loves to say Hi and give hugs to everyone. We cant leave the gym, or anywhere, until he has told everyone goodbye and they have responded so that he knows they heard him. He says the cutest and sweetest things too. He is constantly telling me “I love you too Mom” seriously this kids melts me all day long.

The latest phrase is my favorite one soo far “I wubit (love it) Mom”, which he says to just about everything. You give him something and he says “Thanks Mom I wubit”. Cute, cute, cute! Love this kid!!

Happy 5th Birthday Kayli!!

I tried to convince Kayli to be 4 years old again this year and to stay little forever, but it didn’t work, she told me that she HAS to grow up, and boy is she thrilled to be 5. She kept asking me if her birthday was her last day at Preschool and if she gets to go to Kindergarden now. Silly girl cant wait to grow up and I just want to keep her little forever!

Her day started with waffles for breakfast and then it was off to school. She has been waiting to take cupcakes to school for her birthday since preschool started in August. She knew exactly what she wanted, chocolate cupcakes with pink frosting. She helped me make them on Sunday night and couldn’t wait to share them with her friends.

After school we went home and had Spaghetti for lunch at her request, and then we rushed off to the pottery painting studio with Eli, and her friends Karli and Maren.

After they spent an hour painting pottery we headed home for 3 hours of torture. Every 10 minutes she wanted to know if it was time to open up those presents that had been staring at her for over a week. Finally it was party time with her cousins, aunts, uncles, Grandpa and Goddess. She picked Pizza and crazy bread for dinner, and ice cream cake for dessert. Her cousins had a blast tearing into her gifts with her, while she was opening one, both TJ and Eli were also opening one up. It was pretty funny and crazy. I managed to snap a few pictures of the present opening whirlwind!

On your marks get set GO!

Kayli trying to open the one she has and watch TJ open the other one LOL! Eli had actually opened the pink bag first and decided he didnt like the contents and quickly handed it over to Kayli and moved onto another.

Lots of help!

Yes we did presents before cake, she just couldn’t stand it any longer!

Kayli is such a sweet little girl, don’t get my wrong there is still plenty of drama inside that little 5 year old body, but I see her sweet caring side more and more everyday. She loves to learn, and play. One of her favorite things to do is to color and make pictures for the people she loves, and she is really good at it too. She loves helping me with all kinds of things, especially baking. She is such a good big sister to Caiden, and loves playing with him, and teaching him everything she learned in school that day, yes they finally like each other a lot!! =) Although, she does insist that she is getting a little sister next, and no that is NOT an announcement. We love you Kayli girl!!

Kayli’s Birthday Activity

I let Kayli pick a fun activity to do on her birthday with a few friends. She is obsessed with art and painting and as soon as I suggested painting pottery her mind was made up. She got to bring 3 friends and her brother along. There is a cute little pottery art studio that just opened in December that we were anxious to try out. It was awesome, all of the kids LOVED it, it even held Caiden’s attention for the entire hour that we were there. Here are a few pictures of Kayli, her cousin Eli, friends Maren and Karli, and of course Caiden. She is already talking about the next time she gets to paint pottery.

None of them wanted to stop painting and look at me.

So excited to get started

Caiden loved it!

Eli’s colorful horse

Faces (and tongues) of Concentration

We left their pieces behind to be glazed and cooked in the kiln. They all did a great job! I cant wait to go pick them up! =)

Face of a 5 Year Old

I cannot believe our little girl is 5 years old, where has the time gone? We did some fun things for her birthday, more to come on that, but for now here is a picture of our 5 year old on her special day!

I love you Kayli girl!

Happy New Year!

We had our 2nd Rockband New Year’s eve party this year and it was so much fun! We all went to Tom and Ali’s house and had food and fun until Midnight. This year Grandpa and Grandma Madsen were in town and they joined in on the fun. Everyone made it to midnight and then we were out the door and headed home!! We are excited for all that a new year brings! So far the kids are getting 4 new cousins this year, and Kayli is so excited!

The kids were playing their own games!

I guess we got too loud because they disappeared and I found them in the boy’s bedroom closet.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! (24 days late LOL)

Cabo San Lucas

Pete and I just got back from an amazing getaway!! We left the kids at home with my awesome sisters who took GREAT care of them (THANK YOU!!!). It was the first time we have left the kids overnight since they were born (almost 5 years YIKES!), and we were gone almost a week. It was really hard on everyone especially Caiden, but it was a much needed escape!

We took a 6 day cruise out of San Diego. We had some days at sea and then the ship was in Cabo San Lucas for 2 days. This was our 3rd visit to Cabo and we LOVE it there. Its so beautiful, the weather was a perfect 80 degrees and sunny. We spent the first day walking around dodging the locals haggling us to take a glass bottom water taxi, checking out all the little shops, the flea market, and spent some time on the beach. The water was pretty cold, but Pete did brave it for about 30 minutes or so while he “fished” for shells for Kayli, and I sat and enjoyed the sun. Then we got back on the ship for dinner and fun.

The second day we went parasailing, and then took a water taxi out to Lover’s Beach. We only had about 2 hours until we had to be back on the ship so we didnt spend much time on that beautiful beach, but next time we are heading straight there. On our first 2 trips to Cabo we didnt even go out to this beach and I totally regret it now. It was beautiful!

Lover’s Beach is a secluded beach that is only accessible by boat. Here is a view of it from the ship at sunset (right in between those rocks).

There is beach on both the Pacific Ocean side (they call this Divorce Beach) and then on the Sea of Cortez as well. It is beautiful. Here are some pictures we took in Manual mode (oops). I had no idea that my camera got switched to manual mode so these pictures took some editing, and unfortunately arent great, but they work.

The days at sea were so relaxing, we hung out on the deck, sat in the hot tub, went to the shows and comedy club, and ate plenty of soft serve (well I did). We had an awesome trip!
