Walking Machine

Caiden has been walking most of the time for about 2 weeks now and in the last week he has gotten really steady on his feet! :) He gets soo excited when he is walking and it’s so much fun to watch him! For a while he would walk with his arms straight out in front of him and I was calling him Frankenstein, but now he can carry toy, suck on his finger, move his arms up and down, and still stay on his feet! So I guess Frankenstein is gone! :) Here are a few videos of him walking. Sorry about the sideways one, I gotta remember to not turn the camera, or figure out how to rotate the video!

This one is too funny. Kayli was calling him from out in the family room so at one point he stops and looks around the corner to try to figure out where she is and which way to go! I just LOVE this age! :)

A new home for Dusty

Kayli and I went out to feed Dusty yesterday evening and I couldn’t find him anywhere. I panicked at first thinking he had gotten out again, and since our pest control had just come that day I ran to see if the gate was left open. It wasn’t so I started looking harder and was very surprised to find this.

Dusty dug himself a nice deep hole beneath the base of his favorite bush. Kayli was very concerned that he was stuck in there so she insisted on waiting for him to come out and then sat and talked to him while he ate  like she normally does.

I didnt expect Dusty to be a digger. I know turtles dig, but I dont think he ever dug when he was in my brother’s yard, but maybe that is because there was grass and rocks everywhere. Now I know why I can never find him until I see him wandering the yard eating weeds.

Im not sure that hole is going to be safe when Monsoon season starts though!? I guess Ill just have to keep checking on him when its raining. Who said turtles were low maintenance?

Reach Advantage

Caiden has the longest reach ever. I will set things out of his reach (or so I think) and the  next thing I know he has them. It always happens without fail at the table at least once a day. You think Id learn, but not so much!

I was watching my nephews one day and all the kids were having lunch. One of the boys got up to go to the bathroom and ended up needing my help. I left all of the plates “out of reach” and came back only seconds later to this!

It wasnt even his plate he reached for this time. He grabbed Kayli’s ketchup plate and was LOVING it! He was licking it off his hands and even tried to lick it off the plate! He was so mad when I took it away and cleaned him up. I guess he got the Eggleston ketchup love. He will probably put it on everything just like Mom and Kayli!

New “do”

Aunt Princess (Jena) came to visit for a few days and of course she brought her scissors along since Kayli says that Princess is the ONLY one that can cut her hair! She was refusing to let me do anything with her hair and when i did manage to do something she would take it out as soon as we got in the car, so it was time for something short! I really wanted an A-line cut for her, but Jena was worried she would start it and then Kayli would get bored and she wouldnt be able to finish because Kayli would be moving around too much. So we just went for a cute little bob this time and we will try the a-line next time! She was so good and it turned out really cute and is super easy to manage! Kayli loves it and still tells me “Mom I got a haircut. Its so nice!” It was a little sad to see all that hair in the trash, but we LOVE it! Thanks Princess! :)

Look at all that hair before (showing me how she “shakes her booty”)

Yes you are am!

Kayli was putting one of her stuffed animals in time out a few days ago and I kept hearing her say “Yes you are am!” in her stern voice. I went in and played with Caiden in the playroom and listened to her conversation with the animal and it went something like this.

Kayli: “You are going to timeout”

Animal: “No I dont want to go”

Kayli: “Yes, you are am!”

Animal: “No I dont want to”

Kayli: “Stay in there until your Daddy comes and gets you”

Animal: “No I dont want to”

Kayli: “Yes you are am!”

She must have repeated the last two lines of dialogue 10 times before she noticed I was watching her and moved onto something else! She is so much fun! I love watching and listening to her as she learns new things. Right now she is trying all kinds of crazy things with grammar and I LOVE it! :)

Chick-fil-A Bully…

You better watch out, Pete is coming for you! (well not really, but I think he would really like to)

Today my sister and I took the kids to Chick-fil-A after we went to the gym. They were having a blast, playing in the tunnel and coming down the slide when disaster struck! We had been there a while when TJ (5) came out to tell Ali and I that both Kayli and Eli were up in white car crying! Before we made it into the playroom they both came flying down the slide. Eli, who is 3, was balling and Kayli was totally butt hurt and I could tell she had been crying. She came right over and sat across from me on the bench. I asked her what happened and she said “That big boy (pointing towards the play area) smacked me in the face up in the car.” I asked her which boy and she pointed to a different kid, Eli was also pointing to different kids so we really had no idea who was the culprit. But Im convinced it was one of the older boys 9 or 10 years old that were too big to be playing in there anyways. They were smart enough to wait until they were out of parental sight to beat up our little kids, thinking that they wouldn’t tell us. We cleaned up and left since the kids were done!

On the way home I was talking to Kayli about what happened and she told me that the boy wouldn’t let them go down the slide and he smacked her in the face when she was in the car and then kicked her leg in the airplane. I asked her what she said to him and she said “Mom, I told him No Thanks and he ‘macked (smacked) me again so I pushed him down and said come on Eli and came down the slide to get help.” I must admit I was one proud Mom in that moment! She had figured there was no other way out since the play area is its own closed off space and although we were in eye sight just outside the glass we couldnt hear them crying! I realize she probably couldn’t push down a 9 or 10 year old, but she obviously sent him a message! I dont think Kayli will want to play there for a while!

I really want to know why the parents of these older kids who obviously exceed the play area rules in height and age allow them to play in there with small children? The rules are there for a GOOD reason!

Send some healthy vibes…

Caiden is sick yet again! I dont know why, but I just cannot keep this little booger healthy! Its always something different, double ear infection (never just one), little cold, big cold, croup, and now its well a mystery! He has been spiking 102 fevers since Tues and is just writhing in misery. His eyes are super droopy and you can just tell he doesnt feel well at all! The doctor gave us an antibiotic on Tues even though he couldnt “see” what the ailment was and I thought things would be looking better by now, but so far no luck! He is finally taking an AMAZING nap (going on 2 hours) so hopefully that will help! Kayli is playing at her cousins so its nice and quiet here for the little man to sleep! I miss my playful, smiling boy! :(
