Happy Birthday Kayli!

Where have the last 3 years gone and how did Kayli go from this

to this?

Kayli is such a fun little girl to be around. Although there really isnt much little about her. She is almost as tall as her 4.5 year old cousin, and certainly taller than all of her friends. She is the biggest drama queen about EVERYTHING! Sometimes its really cute, like when she is on the swings and says “Wee” over and over and over again like its the ride of her life. Or when she comes running to me after Ive returned home (regardless if Ive been gone 5 minutes or 5 hours) and says “Mom you came back. You always come back.” And sometimes it is really not so cute, like when she throws herself on the floor and starts crying because someone told her “No” or took a toy away or even just looked at her wrong. You just never know what you are going to get with Kayli! She is energetic, loving, caring, smart, cute, funny, sweet, a cuddler and a tormentor, a big helper, stubborn, and dramatic.

Kayli is such a beautiful girl and we love her very much! She has brought so much joy and love into our home and our lives would not be the same without her! Happy Birthday Kayli we love you VERY much!

Here are some pictures from the family birthday “party” we had…

And here is one of Caiden making Kayli’s birthday cake! She kept asking him “Where is my cake bruder?”

STATS!

I took Caiden in for his 6 month check-up. He is a healthy, growing boy! He weighed 18 1/2 lbs and was 29 inches long. We were back at the doctors a few weeks later with a double ear infection and croup, once again, and the little stinker had lost 1/2 a pound. It must be because he is so mobile because the kid wants to eat all day everyday! I think we may have a tall skinny boy on our hands! He certainly lacks those scrumptious thigh rolls that Kayli had at his age and well beyond! Here he is, 1 sock on and 1 sock off because he likes to chew on it. Silly boy!

Perfect Park Day

The weather was so nice that I took the kids for a walk to the park. It was Caiden’s first official park day. All of the previous times he was either asleep in the stroller, or just being held. Caiden started out asleep in the stroller, but he ended up on the swings and even went down the slide a few times. He LOVED it! Kayli loved the trip as always! She is a sucker for those swings that is for sure! :) I LOVE having a nice park so close to us! Oh and I LOVE the cute kiddos even more!

Nose Wipe..

Kayli has a set of the Disney Princess figurines and she knows most of them, but a few of the movies she has never seen. She was playing with them yesterday and asking me the names of a few that she didnt know. When she got to one I said “That’s Snow White” and she replied, “Yeah Mom that’s Nose Wipe.” Kayli you are the cutest little girl and I love you for always making me laugh!

6 Months Old

OK, so I’m a few days behind on this post…I was laid up with a migraine for almost 3 full days and my computer has been attacked by the virus of all viruses. It is still running, SLOW, but running. Its quite annoying since we have not been able to remove the dang thing. The computer is over 3 years old so I’m thinking its just time to get a new one, but maybe that’s just because I really have no patience for it.

Anyhow, I cannot believe it, but Caiden is already 6 months old. He has grown up way too fast. He has hit all of his milestones much sooner than Kayli did so it really makes it seem like its going even faster! He is so much fun to watch as he interacts with toys and people, he is still such a social little boy. He is a very happy baby, and smiles and laughs a TON!

He is working hard to master crawling, but hasn’t quite gotten the hang of it yet. He is well on his way and I’m sure he will be chasing Kayli and I around any day now. He is a pro at getting on all fours and will move his knees and arms separately, but the coordination of it all is lacking and he usually ends up doing a face plant right on the floor, which can be very upsetting especially when his body is still on the rug, but his face ends up on the tile. On Thursday we discovered that he really does know how to go from his knees back to his bum. I thought for sure he did since we would sit him up in one place and then turn around and he would be a few feet away, but sitting up. We just never actually saw him do it until Thursday. Pete took a video of him in one of his attempts to crawl, I think its about a week old so Ill have to get an updated one this week! (Just click to view the video)

He has been eating solids for a month now, and boy can he EAT! I cannot imagine what his teenage years will be like, because when it comes to eating, he is a MACHINE! He is totally focused on the food and is constantly grabbing for the bowl and spoon. He even knows how to use a sippy cup, it doesn’t matter which one, put it in his mouth and he will figure it out. Last night he even sucked juice through a straw, its like he’s been doing it for months! Ive been making all of his food from fresh fruits and veggies and even ground up oats to make him baby cereal. So far he LOVES everything he has tried; squash, yams, pears, applesauce, and of course his oatmeal cereal.

Caiden loves Kayli so much and it is so much fun to watch them interact with eachother. His eyes light up and he smiles everytime he sees her. Of course he always wants to play with whatever she is playing with which does cause some problems, but Kayli is getting better at sharing and playing with him. Kayli is a screamer, when she gets real excited or is having lots of fun she will sometimes let out a short high pitched scream, and Caiden has really picked up on that. They will take turns with their high pitched screaming back and forth, and they think they are just the cutest things around. I will admit that the screaming does get old, but thankfully they usually get sick of it just as quickly as I do. They are so much fun and I cannot imagine life without them!

Poor Kayli!

Yesterday Kayli was spiking fevers of 101 about every 3 hours. Thankfully Tylenol would bring it back down, but she was just miserable. I thought it was just a little bug and that it would pass since she wasn’t complaining of any pain anywhere. She was super tired all day, and kept trying to go to sleep, but was miserably restless. She finally fell asleep around 5:30 and slept for 4 hours. OK so that is so not Kayli. She rarely takes naps these days and when she does they are certainly not 4 hours long. When she woke up from the nap she told me “Mom I need to go to the Doctor’s. Doctor make me feel better.” OK so then I KNEW something was off. The Tylenol was still working to bring the fever back down so we decided to let her sleep and take her to Urgent Care first thing this morning. I let her sleep with me so I could keep an eye (well touch) on her fevers and give her the Tylenol when needed. This morning she was up at 7 and ready to go to the Doctor’s so off we went. They checked her out, but couldn’t find any reason for the fever. Well most of you know that Kayli has had a history of bladder infections and UTIs (Urinary Tract Infections). She hasn’t had any since she’s been potty trained so I really didn’t think it was the culprit. She was such a big girl and even peed in the cup today. (Thank Goodness since before they would have to attach this Ziploc like bag to her with super sticky tape and she had to wear it with her diaper until she finally peed. She is the master at “holding it in”, which is probably another reason for the problems, so one time we were stuck at Urgent Care for over 2 hours waiting for her to pee! My Mom had to come over and finally she peed while my Mom distracted her by running from the Crocodiles in the hallway.) So sure enough she has yet another infection. We wont know how bad it is until the lab culture results come back on Monday, but she is on a strong antibiotic in the meantime. The fevers aren’t as frequent and she seems to be feeling better tonight. She was telling everyone all day that she went to the doctor’s today and the doctor made her feel better! She is such a cutie…even when she is miserably sick!
